Terms of Use

Last updated 30 October 2026

These Terms of Use set out the practical rules for using the BHUTI Safety Hub website, mobile app, accounts and interactive features.

1. Your account

One account per person. You must not share your password, sell access to your account, or create an account using someone else's identity.

The role attached to your account (community user, provider, guard, officer or administrator) controls which tools you can see. Misrepresenting your role, including claiming to be a law enforcement officer, is a serious breach and may be reported.

2. Prohibited conduct

  • Posting content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, violent for its own sake, or that incites harm or criminality.
  • Sharing a person's address, identity number, phone number, number plate or other private information without their consent.
  • Naming or identifying a suspect, minor or victim of a crime in a way that could prejudice an investigation or a trial.
  • Uploading another person's copyrighted work, including commercial music, without permission.
  • Using automated tools to harvest listings, contact details or report data.
  • Attempting to bypass security controls, access another user's records, or disrupt the service.

3. Availability and changes

Features may be added, changed or withdrawn as the platform develops. We may take the platform offline for maintenance, or restrict access where needed to protect users, data or the security of the service.

Some features depend on third-party services such as maps, news feeds and payment providers, and may be unavailable when those services are.

4. Intellectual property

The platform's name, logo, design, software and written content belong to BHUTI or its licensors and may not be copied or used commercially without written permission.

News headlines and images link back to the original publishers and remain their property. International notices and wanted listings remain the property of the issuing authority named on each record.

5. Third-party links and services

Listings, news articles, notices and advertisements may link to sites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, terms or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.

6. Ending use

You may stop using the platform at any time and may ask us to close your account. We may suspend or terminate access where these terms or our Community Guidelines are breached, or where required by law.

This document is general platform wording for South African users and is not legal advice. Where a law, regulation or municipal by-law applies, the current official text prevails.
