Disclaimer

Last updated 30 October 2026

The BHUTI Safety Hub provides information, directories and reporting tools. Please read this disclaimer before relying on anything published on the platform.

1. Not an emergency service

BHUTI is not an emergency service and does not dispatch police, ambulances or fire services. In an emergency, call 10111, 10177 or 112 immediately.

Alerts, SOS requests and live escort sessions depend on connectivity, device location and the availability of independent responders. We cannot guarantee a response time or that anyone will respond.

2. Provider listings

Listings are supplied by providers. Verification confirms that documents such as a company registration, PSIRA registration or operating licence were supplied and reviewed, but it is not a warranty of workmanship, conduct, insurance or continued compliance.

Always confirm a provider's registration directly. Security providers must be registered with PSIRA under the Private Security Industry Regulation Act 56 of 2001, and firearms may only be carried by persons who are licensed under the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000.

3. No professional advice

Safety tips, legal explainers, rights guides, drug information and FAQ content are general information only. They are not legal, medical, psychological or security advice, and should not be relied on in place of a consultation with a qualified professional.

Statutes, by-laws and procedures change. Where accuracy matters, check the current text of the Act, regulation or municipal by-law, or speak to an attorney.

4. Reports, notices and news

Incident, civic and sighting reports reflect what a member of the public submitted. They are not findings of fact or of criminal guilt.

Wanted and international notice entries are reproduced from the issuing authority's own record and link back to that source. A notice does not itself prove guilt, and anyone named is presumed innocent until a court finds otherwise. If you believe a listing is wrong, use the appeal process on the page.

News summaries link to the original publisher. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party reporting.

5. Use of the platform is at your own risk

You are responsible for your own safety decisions. Do not approach a wanted person, enter a dangerous scene, or put yourself at risk to obtain photos or information. Rather report what you know to the authorities.

To the extent permitted by law, and without limiting your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on information published by users, providers or third parties.

This document is general platform wording for South African users and is not legal advice. Where a law, regulation or municipal by-law applies, the current official text prevails.
